HISTORY

In August 2009, after an electronic voting, ICTV accepted the fifth adenovirus genus (Ichtadenovirus with one species: Sturgeon adenovirus A), and four new adenovirus species: Falcon adenovirus A (genus Aviadenovirus), Human adenovirus G and Murine adenovirus C (Mastadenovirus), and Raptor adenovirus A (Siadenovirus).

In 2008, ICTV accepted the proposals for creating two new species, Snake adenovirus A (for snake adenovirus type 1) and Simian adenovirus A (for simian adenovirus 3).

ICTV accepted officially the proposed two new adenovirus genera Atadenovirus and Siadenovirus July 30, 2002.

In Report 7, BAdV-4 to 8, OAdV287, EDS virus, and THEV have been moved from the genera Mastadenovirus and Aviadenovirus, respectively, to the group of "Unassigned Viruses in the Family". Twenty species (as a new taxon in Adenoviridae) have been established for the accepted serotypes of mastadenoviruses, and six species for the accepted aviadenovirus types.
